Impact of the programme

:

The main project output will be a Master’s Degree study programme SECCM arranged according to Bolognian principles. The target group, which directly benefits from it, is the “ordering” Programme Country – Egypt. Curriculum and syllabi developed in the proposed project will be directly related to Egypt regional and national priorities and, in particular, to environmental issues that have strategic importance for the sustainable development of coastal regions.

Aims of the programme:

  1. all participating organisations will modify the existing programmes in Applied Physical Sciences (Environmental Science) and bring them nearer to the newly-developed programme (by implementing similar modules, by developing specializations, by starting the similar MSc programmes or joint-degree). That is considered to be the main output of the project on inter- and national level;
  2. the project will also try to develop a joint-degree MSc among partners;
  3. new syllabi will be developed together with teaching and learning materials. This is beneficial for all consortium Higher Education Institutions (HEI). 
  4. the competence to teach modules will be developed during training, organized in EU Higher Education Institutions. The trainings are supposed to be of a major importance and for target group (EG academic staff) and for hosting institutions, as such events are always based on the exchange of best practice, colleague learning and collaboration in professional network. This intellectual output is of a major importance for stakeholders: students, future employers etc. who are directly interested in a high quality of HE;
  5. research data on labour market tendencies in consortium countries would allow to foresee the changes in demands for specialists as well as supply-demand tendencies. Competence approach will allow preparing specialists, ready to apply their knowledge and skills in real professional environment.
  6. The e&m-learning resourses will be developed during the project. That, will promote ICT competence of users It will also provide possibility for distance and mobile learning, raising the attractiveness and reach of HE. That is beneficial for all consortiums partners, staff and students, stakeholders.
  7. mobility for staff and students will improve professional and intercultural competences, language skills, team work, ability to study and work in multicultural environment, employability opportunities, etc. That would also raise the attractiveness of studies for potential students.
  8. interdisciplinary approach to ECM with the integration of the newest technologies is beneficial for Partner Country as develops its capability in application of technologies in environmental sciences. Moreover, project material outputs (equipment etc), will develop the potential of Egypt in environment management. Moreover, a Joint degree study programme would be seek to promote effective academic collaboration;
  9. stakeholders will be invited to monitor and evaluate the progress of MSc in SECCM by providing valuable feedback on its quality and effectiveness. Stakeholders’ opinion will be of a major importance in developing the proposal for joint degree study programme and to monitor its quality. Stakeholders will be invited as experts to programme quality assessment committees and they will be stimulated to add value to the programme by providing places for field based practice, offering employment opportunities for graduates, financially supporting best students etc.
  10. potential students will be reached by advertising study programme SECCM during “open days” at universities, collaboration events at secondary schools etc. Brochures, published to advertise the MSc programme will be distributes to all interested parties. The contacts will be established with employers who would invest in the in-service training of employees by choosing MSc studies.
